Helpful tips for planning your trip

*Dynamic Weather Changes- Yosemite is a place of four seasons. On some days a visitor can experience dramatic weather changes with cold morning & night time temperatures, day time heat, variations in micro climate zones, elevation changes, afternoon thunderstorms, and Winter, Spring, or Autumn snow.

*Travel Times & Driving- If you are staying outside of Yosemite please consider leaving your accommodations early in the morning to avoid long lines at the park entrance gates, and possible traffic delays.

*Winter snow- Yosemite National Park roads can be subject to snow & ice from late October until mid May . Tire chains can become required on park roads during, and after snow storm events. Drive slow, drive safe, & be prepared with tire chains even if you have 4 wheel drive.

*Spring & Summer vehicle traffic- During the busy tourism season Yosemite can become crowded with park visitors. Early starts, and selective locations can help you find quiet places to enjoy a peaceful photography outing, and avoid traffic congestion.

*Summer & Fall Wild fires? Yosemite National Park & the surrounding landscape can be effected by wildfires especially during the dry seasons.

*Autumn leaves, chilly morning temperatures & early season rain? Mid October is often a transition period into Fall. The weather can change quickly from hot, dry temperatures to cold, wet storms. It can be a beautiful month to enjoy Yosemite’s Fall color, but make sure to pack clothing for any, and all weather conditions.
